Fifty Shades of Gray Birmingham Wedding

We love the fact our clients are daring and unique when it comes to weddings. It allows us dive in and design one-of-a-kind stylistic experiences that immerses the guests in a journey of discovery of who the couple is and their love story. With Mr. & Mrs. Gray as our couple to be, we knew there would be a beautiful challenge in place. For Brittany & Warren’s fall wedding at the Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, we combined the sexiness of Fifty Shades of Gray the groom loved, with the romantic and elegant feel the bride dreamed off for a design that was majestic, timeless, full of hidden secrets and fun daring touches and the perfect backdrop to tell their wedding day love story.
No matter how much you plan, nature sometimes can take over and give you a challenge as it did with this wedding when hurricane Michael hit our area the week of the wedding. But in spite of hurricane chaos, lost of power, closed roads, and airport shipment delays, our bride and groom remained unaware and stress free and our Studio Heart team pulled together to create a perfect day for these two.
From the raised and T shaped stage, to the 12ft tall draped backdrop with accent of flowers and chain metal curtains to add a touch of glamours hardware, to the sweet LoveLock ceremony, to the romantic draping flower pieces that framed a petal-covered aisle, to the mask details in the aisle the ceremony was perfect for the guests to stay in the moment and enjoy the sentiments behind this un-plugged ceremony.
To bring the sense of movie premier to the cocktail hr, we setup a red carpet for the guest to walk and be interviewed on complete with custom backdrop and custom created movie posters feature our couple inspired by the posters from the movie which the guest enjoyed while listening to live jazz, drinks and appetizers. We used a strong color palette of black and white with touches of gray for the linens that was both modern and striking to bring an edge to the classic and detailed architecture of the Ross Bridge Ballrooms and the pink up-lighting allowed the room to come alive with color, while the candlelight and crystals added warmth and romance. The striking color blocked flower centerpieces with diamond and silver mask accents were the perfect touch to give the ballroom an elegant look, which we complemented with the chain curtains with black mask and candles centerpieces to add a touch of hardware and sexiness from the movie. The tent in the middle was a great architectural detail to bring the height of the ceiling down and make it more intimate and also our subtle way of paying homage to the red room in the movie. If you look close you might even find hidden touches of zip ties we added in the decor along with the ties and mask to accent the back of the chairs.
